Short biography

Maiko Lie has B.E. (2016) and MSc. (2018) degrees in Computer Engineering from the Federal University of Technology — Parana, Brazil, where he spent four years (2014-2018) as a member of the Imaging and Electronic Instrumentation Laboratory. As an undergraduate research assistant, and later as a graduate student, he worked on digital image processing and visual pattern recognition research, focusing on medical image analysis and visual attention modeling.

In 2018, Maiko joined the Smart Sense Laboratory at the the Federal University of Minas Gerais, Brazil, as a PhD student in Computer Science, working on visual pattern recognition applied to smart surveillance and biometrics. Since 2022, he is also a Senior Researcher at the Samsung R&D Institute, Brazil, where he works on AI solutions for health applications.
